What undergrad coursework will you need?

As a pre-med student, there are a lot of specific classes you will need to take to apply to and be accepted into medical school; these range from physics to chemistry to sociology courses. Of course, the exact pre-requisites depend on the specific school, but there are lists out there about some of the classes you can expect to need as a pre-med, which I have linked below.

Some medical schools, like Carle Illinois College of Medicine, require more mathematics courses than other schools. It’s important to check out the websites of the schools you are interested in applying to and make sure you have the courses they recommend and/or require.

Another important resource in this process is your academic advisor, like your major advisor or your school’s pre-health advisor, if there is one. Schedule meetings with them early to discuss your plans for after you graduate so you will be set for success!
